| A big "Thank You" to everyone who has participated in the Census so far. The initial numbers have been sent to the Veterinary School at University of Minnesota. We will continue to take information from anyone who would like to complete the census form available HERE We hope that this information will help us to inform more Researchers, Tack Producers, Feed Companies and others regarding the rising number of Draft Crosses. |
Draft Cross Census History
On March 14, 2005, the DCBOA was contacted by Dr. Molly McCue DVM, MS of the American
College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. McCue informed us that they were getting ready to ask for funding for veterinary research
that would focus on Draft Cross issues. In order to improve their odds of getting financing for
this crucial work, they asked for our help.
The DCBOA agreed to conduct a census for Draft Crosses. We know that these horses fall
under a variety of names, and participating in this census will not put you on a mailing list (one
"Thank You" email will be returned to you so that you know your information was received).
We just want to help this program, and hopefully others in the future, understand the size of the
Draft Cross community. We hope this leads to more research at this and other institutions.
Thank you for taking a moment to fill out the Census. You will be benefiting Draft Cross's
everywhere.
If you have a herd of Draft Crosses and do not wish to fill out the information for each horse,
please contact us via email so that we can include your numbers in the final tally.
